The life of any church follows a particular pattern - although some churches emphasise certain times of the year more than others. The following links will give you a brief outline of the church's year and what you might expect to find.
Advent, Christmas and EpiphanyDuring different times in the church's year, different colours are worn by the clergy, and there are different coloured hangings in the church.
White and Gold are colours of celebration, worn at Christmas and Easter, on Saints days, at Baptisms and Weddings and at Ordinations.
Purple is the colour worn at solemn times - Advent and Lent, and at funerals.
Red is the colour of the Holy Spirit, worn at Pentecost. It is also the colour of martyrs and is worn on certain saints days. It is also the colour of Kingship and is worn on the feast of Christ the King.
Green is the 'ordinary' colour and represents life and growth. It is worn for the rest of the year.
